Since LBC’s announcement, Hopkins has posted on Twitter but not mentioned her departure. She later edited the tweet, writing “typo / wording amended”, and then deleted it. Hopkins’ tweet, made in the hours after the explosion at Manchester Arena, said: “22 dead – number rising. There were “massive cheers and applause” from former colleagues in the newsroom after confirmation was received that she would be leaving, the BBC’s media editor, Amol Rajan, reported. Asked for further details, a spokesman said: “That’s all we’re saying.” A spokesman for the broadcaster said: “LBC and Katie Hopkins have agreed that Katie will leave LBC effective immediately.” The station refused to confirm or deny that Hopkins had been sacked, or give details of the severance. Hopkins hosted a weekly show on LBC on Sundays. As is routine, the allegation will be reviewed and assessed by specialist officers.” A Met spokesman said on Tuesday: “We can confirm that a complaint has been received. Or if it's longer than 2 days, we'll keep the candidate updated with what's happening.Complaints were made to the Metropolitan police about the tweet, while Twitter received repeated reports that the statement was “abusive or harmful”. In saying that, essentially nearly 3 days of radio silence is quite unusual. My gut feeling is they may have gone with another candidate, though they're just keeping me warm just in case something goes wrong with reference checks or offer. I've just sent an email back to the recruiter to ask if there's an update. It's now Friday afternoon and I still haven't heard anything. I waited all day Thursday and heard nothing. She replied saying she hadn't received anything. At the end of the interview, they told me I'd hear back the next day with feedback.
